Dungeon Heroes Pet System Explained

Basics

Pets in Dungeon Heroes are combat companions with passive stat bonuses and active abilities—Okurio summons wolves for boss burst, Baboon King shreds mob packs, Anpu adds healing for sustain builds. You typically equip one active pet before entering a dungeon; that pet gains experience alongside you and executes its active on cooldown like any hero skill.

Pets drop from dungeon runs, boss kills, and occasional event rewards. Drop rates are RNG-heavy, so target farms at dungeons tied to your desired pet—Okurio lines up with Orion's Peak content, Bulwark appears early in Shattered Forest, and endgame pets require Shifting Sands or Astral Abyss investment.

Leveling Five Copies in Parallel

Merge requires five identical pets at the same level plus keys. That means you are not leveling "your Okurio" in isolation—you are leveling Okurio copy one through five in lockstep. Swap the active pet slot between runs or use any bulk XP system the hub provides, but never let one copy jump ten levels ahead unless you enjoy inventory clutter you cannot merge.

Hard dungeon repeats offer the best XP per minute once Normal teaches mechanics. Bring EXP boosters from codes during pet leveling weekends to shave hours off merge prep.

Merge System and Key Competition

When five copies align on level, visit the merge altar, pay keys, and consume duplicates to raise merge tier stats. Keys come from the same pool as skill chest opens—this is the central tension of mid-game planning. New accounts should merge zero pets until S-tier skills for their weapon type are secured; mid-game accounts split keys 70/30 skills-to-pets; endgame farmers merge S-tier pets while still rolling Astral Abyss chests for Chain Lightning.

Integration with Builds

Physical boss killers want Okurio or Flint Beryl XII depending on fight length. Magic mob farmers pair Loto Elderagyn pulls with Meteor Storm or Chain Lightning. Support players stack Anpu heals with Self Heal skills. Large hitbox pets like Somnekk underperform in Deadman's Cove corridors—swap to Baboon King for tight maps. Always cross-reference tier-list/pets before committing keys.

Long-Term Pet Roadmap

Phase one: equip whatever drops while learning. Phase two: hoard five copies of your first S-tier pet without merging until keys allow. Phase three: merge and push Insane content for faster duplicate drops of the same pet. Phase four: optional second pet line for mob vs boss swapouts. Skipping phases by merging Bulwark guarantees regret when Okurio copies arrive late and keys are gone.
